第五辑 生命教育 Volume 5: Life Education
我们的教育应该以德育教育为主，其次才是文化知识、学着认字。以德育教育为本，国家就会昌盛，因为大家都有德了。
Our education should prioritize moral education, followed by cultural knowledge (and learning to recognize words). With moral education as the foundation, the nation will prosper because everyone possesses virtue.
掌握一门技能是不难的，最难的是德行的培养。学个技能太容易了，笨的人可以学笨的，看门总会嘛！你有德行，看门也能做得让大家欢喜；你要是没德行，看门都看不住，“监守自盗”，麻烦了！
Acquiring a skill is not difficult; the most challenging aspect is the cultivation of moral character. Learning a skill is easy; even someone less intelligent can learn something simple, like being a doorman! If you have good moral character, you can make everyone happy even as a doorman. But if you lack moral character, you can’t even guard the door, “guarding and stealing” would lead to trouble.
其实人是可以教育出来的。一个人如果从小受到很好的教育，并且有个好的环境氛围，那他心中那些恶的习性从小就会被抑制，然后善的品质又尽量地激发出来，那他就能成长为一个有德行、有益社会的人。
In fact, people can be educated. If a person receives an excellent education from a young age and is surrounded by a positive environment, the bad habits in their heart will be suppressed from an early age. At the same time, good qualities will be encouraged as much as possible. This way, they can grow into a person with good moral character who contributes positively to society.
这个环境氛围是很重要的，要有好的老师、好的同学。古代的老师，都是道德方面很高尚的人，在一个村里，或者在一个地方上，他的德行是公认的、有名的，大家都会主动地把自己的孩子送到他那里让他教。
The environment is indeed crucial, involving the presence of good teachers and supportive peers. In ancient times, teachers were individuals of high moral standing. In a village or a specific area, a teacher's moral character was widely acknowledged and renowned. People willingly sent their children to such teachers for instruction.
把孩子教得学习成绩优秀不算好老师，有德行、品性高尚才是好老师。
Being a good teacher is not just about achieving excellent academic results in students; it is about having moral character and noble qualities.
