Using an object

第二个方法是把心轻轻地放在一个对象上。
The second method is to rest the mind lightly on an object.

许多人发现这个方法很管用。这个方法也是很有效的,任何能够让你产生特别灵感的自然物,譬如一朵花或一颗水晶都可以。
Many people find this method very useful. This method is also very effective. You can use an object of natural beauty that invokes a special feeling of inspiration for you, such as a flower or crystal.

然而,具体表现真理的东西,诸如佛像,特别是我们上师的像,会更有威力。上师活生生地把我们和真理连结在一起;由于我们和上师的师徒关系,只要看着他的脸,就将你的自性与灵感、真理连结在一起。
But something that embodies the truth, such as an image of the Buddha, or particularly our master, is even more powerful. Our master is our living link with the truth. Because of our personal connection to our master, just seeing his or her face connects us to the inspiration and truth of our own nature.

对我们的上师要有信心的话,就是这样子的,看到上师的像的时候,将你的自性和灵感、真理连结起来。
If we have faith in our master, it will be like this: just seeing his or her image connects us to the inspiration and truth of our own nature.

圣地印度莲花生大士在公元八世纪来到西藏, 藉着他的神通力,把佛法引进了西藏。
Padmasambhava from the holy land of India, came to Tibet in the 8th century. By the enormous power of his spiritual personality, he brought the teaching of Buddha to Tibet.

莲师跟我们特别有缘,因为西藏也是我们北传佛教,莲师也是密法的祖师。事实上莲师也是释迦牟尼佛"身"的化身,阿弥陀佛"意"的化身,观音菩萨的"口"化身。
We have a special connection with Padmasambhava, because Northern Buddhism is also prevalent in Tibet, and Padmasambhava is also the patriarch of the Vajrayana tradition. In reality, he is the emanation of Shakyamuni Buddha's body, Amitabha Buddha's mind, and Avalokiteshvara's speech.

顶果钦哲仁波切说:"对现在这个艰苦时代的众生,最有慈悲力和最多加持的是莲花生大士,他拥有一切诸佛的慈悲和智慧。
他有一项德行就是任何人祈求他,他就能够立刻给予加持;而且不论向他祈求什么,他都有能力当下就满足我们的愿望。"
Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche said: "The one who has the greatest compassion and blessing toward beings in this difficult age is Padmasambhava, who embodies the compassion and wisdom of all the Buddhas.
One of his qualities is that he has the power to give his blessing instantly to whoever prays to him. And whatever we may pray for, he has the power to grant our wish immediately."

我们如果对莲师有信心的话,可以摆莲师的像来观修,第二种方法是一个对象,用莲师的像来观修也是可以的。
If we have faith in Padmasambhava, we can meditate on his image. The second method is to use an object, and we can use the image of Padmasambhava as the object of meditation.

有信心的人,看佛像就会消业,庄严的佛像看一眼都可以消无量的业。如果你欢喜地、虔诚地、恭敬地、绝对有信心地看着佛像礼拜,消业是非常快的。一边看一边拜,拜之前要看清楚,然后用心去相应,再拜下去,消业是非常快的。
People with faith can eliminate their negative karma after looking at a Buddha image. Even a single glance at a dignified Buddha image can eliminate boundless negative karma. If you look at a Buddha image and prostrate with joy, devotion, reverence, and absolute faith, you can quickly eliminate negative karma. You should look at the image clearly, connect by heart, and then prostrate. This can quickly eliminate negative karma.

在我们磕大头的时候,我观察到有些人磕下去以后,趴着半天不起来,这样子不行。我们磕大头的时候,你累了,就站在那里合着掌,把佛像观修清楚,发起菩提心来,用你的心观修一下,然后再拜下去,
When prostrating, I notice that some people remain lying on the ground for a long time without getting up. This is not good. If you feel tired when prostrating, you can stand there with your palms together, visualize the Buddha image clearly, generate bodhicitta, and then prostrate again.

拜下去的时候几乎不能停,五体投地以后,最多一秒钟就得起来。拜得多,累的话,站的时间可以稍微长一点,观修的时候可以长一点,观清楚了然后再拜下去,不能趴在地上半天不起来的,这样是错误的。
When prostrating, you should almost never stop, but should get up in a second at most. If you feel tired after lots of prostrations, you can stand and visualize carefully for a little longer, and then prostrate again. You cannot stay lying on the ground without getting up. It's wrong.

第二种方法,可以看着上师的像、或者看着祖师的像、看着佛菩萨的像来观修,这样的话也是很好的一种方法。
Regarding the second method, you can look at the image of your guru, patriarchs, or Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. This is also a very good method.

我们这个方法,可以伴随着磕大头——你站这里观修一下,然后再拜一下,这样的方法是非常好的。这就是第二种方法了。
We can add prostration to this method: After standing and visualizing for a moment, then make a prostration, which is pretty good. This is the second method.
