第八辑 把心带回家 Volume 8: Bringing the Mind Home


“即使如此,你还是要幽默地继续做事。
"but even so, humorously you go on doing things.
幽默就是很轻松、没有执著的心态。
Humor is the state of mind that is relaxed and free from attachments.

譬如,当你走路的时候不要有无谓的严肃感或自我意识,反之,你要轻松地走向真理的开放虚空;
For example, if you are walking, without unnecessary solemnity or self-consciousness, lightheartedly walk toward the open space of truth.
你走路的时候可以这样观修。
You can meditate in this way while walking.

当你坐下的时候,你要作真理的堡垒;当你吃东西的时候,要把你的负面的身口意的业和幻想吃进空性的肚子,消解它们,遍及虚空法界;当你大小便时,观想一切障碍正在被清洗、净除。”
When you sit, be the stronghold of truth. As you eat, feed your negativities and illusions into the belly of emptiness, dissolving them into all-pervading space. And when you go to the toilet, consider all your obscurations and blockages are being cleansed and washed away."

一切唯心造,你这样做的时候都是有作用的。你不要想:“这是打妄想,这有用吗?” 其实有作用的,就是你“打妄想”也有业的,也会有果报的——你这样作意的话,它也有相应的果报。
Everything is created by the mind. When you meditate in this way, it's effective. Don't think, "Is this just daydreaming? Does it work?" In reality, it does. Even if you are "daydreaming", it still creates karma and will bring about consequences. If you meditate in this way, it will yield the corresponding result.

因此,真正重要的不只是练习如何禅坐,而是禅坐之后你有什么样的心境。
So what really matters is not just the practice of sitting, but far more the state of mind you find yourself in after meditation.
禅坐就是一种用正确的方法来作意、观修,那你会产生什么样的心态?你作意了以后肯定有相应的心态、心境。
Meditation is about using the right method to cultivate mindfulness and contemplation. So, what state of mind will you attain? After you engage in mindfulness practice, the corresponding state of mind will certainly arise.

不论你做什么,都要将这种宁静和专注的心境延伸。
It is this calm and centered state of mind you should prolong through everything you do.
因为你这样作意得好的时候,这种心境是自然地延伸的,而不是那种强行地延伸,它自然会这样地相续,如梦如幻的这种心境能够保持得住。
Because if your mindfulness practice goes well, such state of mind will naturally continue without being forced. It will naturally flow in this way, and the dreamlike and illusory state of mind can be maintained.

只要用正确的方法不断地这样观修、作意,自然就会保持得住,它有一个相续性,你不要太用力,不要老想着“保持、保住”,有执著了就不对。
As long as you continuously meditate with the right method, you will naturally maintain the state of mind, as it has a continuity. Don't exert too much effort, and don't keep thinking of "maintain it, keep it." Attachment is never right.
你只要用正确的方法就行,结果自然就产生。对结果我们不要太执著。
Just use the right method, and the result will naturally arise. Don't be too attached to the result.

我很喜欢一个禅宗的公案,弟子问师父:“师父,你如何将觉悟表现于行动之中呢?你如何在日常生活中禅修呢?”
“饿的时候就吃,困的时候就睡。”师父回答。
I like the Zen story in which the disciple asked his master: "Master, how do you put enlightenment into action? How do you practice it in everyday life?"
By eating and by sleeping," replied the master.

“但是,师父,每个人都在睡,每个人都在吃呀!”
师父回答:“但是,当他们在吃的时候却在挑肥拣瘦,当他们在睡的时候却在颠倒梦想。”
"But Master, everybody sleeps and everybody eats."
"But not everybody eats when they eat, and not everybody sleeps when they sleep."

凡夫就是这样的:吃的时候挑肥拣瘦,这个好吃、那个不好吃;睡的时候就梦想颠倒。说明他强烈地分别执著。
Ordinary beings are like this: when they eat, they are picky, discriminating which is tasty and which isn't; when they sleep, they are entangled in chaotic dreams. This shows their strong attachment and discrimination.

有些人对吃的东西,只要锅里做出来的都可以吃。虽然做得不是很美味,但是修行人呢,好吃的、不好吃的普通的饮食都能够没有什么分别心,都能够正常地吃,不会起烦恼,也不会起厌恶感——我们先做到这一点,吃什么样的饭菜都能够保持一个良好的心境。
Some people are fine with any food available, even if it doesn't taste good. As spiritual practitioners, no matter what food is provided, whether it is tasty or not, we should be able to eat normally without discrimination, vexation, or aversion. Let's first achieve this goal — maintain a good state of mind while eating anything.

睡觉的时候我们尽量地没有什么颠倒梦想,这很难,睡着了,颠倒梦想来了你控制不了。所以白天要多修行,少欲知足,多忏悔,把你的业忏掉了,并且妄想少,睡梦当中自然就没有什么颠倒梦想。
When we sleep, we should try not to be caught in chaotic dreams. This is difficult because once you fall asleep, you cannot control your dreams. Therefore, during daytime, we should practice more, be content with fewer desires, and diligently repent to eliminate our negative karma and stay away from mental distractions. By doing so, you won't be caught in chaotic dreams when you sleep.

这个不容易做到的,作为一个禅师,饿的时候就吃、困的时候就睡,这个是很高的境界。
This is not easy to achieve. The state of the Zen master — "When I eat, I eat; when I sleep, I sleep." is very high.

如果你确实希望达到这个了了分明的心境,那么你所需要做的不只是把修行当作偶尔服用的药物或治疗,而是把它当作每天的食粮。
And if you really wish to achieve this, what you need to do is not just practice as if it were an occasional medicine or therapy, but as if it were your daily sustenance or food.

食粮对你来说就是维持生命的东西,就是说,你的修行在这个时候就像饮食那么重要,离开了食粮你就活不下去了,离开了修行也是一样。
Food sustains your life. In other words, at this stage, spiritual practice is as important as food. Without food, you cannot survive; similarly, without spiritual practice, you cannot move on.

这就是为什么远离现代都市生活的压力、在闭关的环境中修行是发展这种结合力的殊胜方法。
That is why one excellent way to develop this power of integration is to practice it in a retreat environment, far from the stresses of modern city life.

刚开始你还是要在清静的环境下长期地禅修,让这种心境能够在禅坐中相续,然后生活简单、也能够相续,最后慢慢地才能到现代都市中去磨练、去提高。
In the beginning, you need to spend a long period of time practicing in a tranquil environment, to let this state of mind continue during meditation.
Then, you may maintain this state of mind while living a simple life.
Finally, you can gradually test and elevate your state of mind in the modern city environment.
